Brief outline of the Immersion Course

Adults
Pak Tata Survi, head of the AIAV’s Indonesian language education programme has devised a language immersion course to extend participant's language competency and cultural understanding of Indonesia. The course will consist of activities based on a theme for each day, Monday to Friday, Saturdays will be free and Sundays will involve activity with the host family.
The methodology of the course draws on concepts of Communicative and Task based methodologies, involving excursions, reporting, and interaction with Indonesian people. In addition to this the course can be adapted to suit individual or professional interests.
During your stay in Yogyakarta, you will be staying in a home stay situation. All home stay families are experienced in hosting our previous participants.

Secondary Students

Immersion courses for secondary students are held in early January of each year. The dates of which are concurrent without the adult immersion course but are held separately.
Our secondary immersion course is a fantastic opportunity for Year 10 or Year 11 students to really boost their Indonesian Language skills. The course is conducted by Pak Tata Survi. Pak Tata Survi has extensive knowledge of the requirements of VCE Indonesian and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. All students benefit by staying with a host family. Host families are selected on the basis of matching your son or daughter with a family who has children of a similar age and the same gender.
